Do not forget God’s faithfulness

Greetings friends!  Thank you so much for clicking the post open (to the subscriber). And to visitors, thank you for being here! Wishing you all a happy New Year and hoping you had a wonderful festive season. Over and above that I am grateful to the Lord for keeping you and carrying you through to a new year. Are you excited for 2025? Well, I have a topic on my conscience that I hope will uplift you.

God’s faithfulness.

Over the holidays I read the book of Exodus, and I was led to meditate in the theme after I read chapter 13. God had just caused severe plagues on Egypt in order to deliver and redeem His people. This is the fulfilment of a promise God made to Abraham(then Abram) in Genesis 15v13-14: Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years. But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterwards they shall come out with great possessions”.

Now God had fulfilled the promise and delivered His people, Isreal. They marched out of Egypt, and not even a dog could bark against them. They then stood between the land of their slavery and the Land of Promise. And God had instructions for them before they move onto their next season.

By the grace of God, our souls remain in the land of the living because the Lord has faithfully brought us to the beginning of a new year. I believe the instructions God gave to Isreal, can shed some light on how God wants us to move into the upcoming year.

In Exodus 13v3-16 God gives them the details of how the Passover feast should be kept. Importand for this post is the reason for this feast, which is specified: for it to serve as a reminder to the people.

Exodus 13v3: Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by a strong hand the Lord brought you out from this place.

Exodus 13v14: And when in time to come your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you shall say to him ‘By a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

Exodus 13v16: It shall be as a mark on your hand or frontiers between your eyes, for by a strong hand the Lord brought you out of Egypt.

Because of the Sacrifice of Jesus, the spotless Lamb, we no longer have to keep this ritual feast. Yet, we can remember what God has done for us in times past. We can tell testimonies of God’s love to those around us. We can remind ourselves of God’s might as though we had a mark on our bodies to alert us.

In the following chapter(14), we see the Isrealites crossing the Red Sea on dry ground when Pharoah, hard-heartedly,  hunts the nation down. I can imagine that they were not expecting it bu, lo and behold, they faced a trail. Right after experiencing mighty deliverance. It would have been great if they reminded themselves of the God who brought them out. But when the situation looked grim and they were in fear, they did not remember the strong hand of the Lord. They turned to Moses and cried murder. Unfortunately the Isrealites… forgot. This is not to shame the Isrealites. We fall short in this way all too often. We fail to remember.

My aim with this week’s post is to encourage us to remember God’s faithfulness. Friends, we have to acknowledge that no matter what we’ve been through or how deep the valley may be, it is only because of God’s faithfulness that we have made it this far. Consider also that no matter what we’ve been through , or how far off we feel, we have an opportunity to turn to Him and find grace at His throne today.

Being here today, is a blessing. We stand at the beginning of a new year, let us choose to remember God’s faithfulness. Take some time to meditate on God’s faithfulness manifested in your life.

What proof do we have of God’s faithfulness?

If I had asked myself to consider God’s faithfulness in my life one year ago, I would have denied it. However, I have realized that God is true to what He reveals Himself as. And He reveals Himself as Faithful.

The Gospel is the ultimate example of God’s faithfulness. The new covenant that God has made with His people is reliant on the finished work of Christ on the cross and nothing else. God blessed and protected Israel for the sake of Abraham, the friend of God. In the same way, God is good to believers for the sake of His Son who gave His life on the cross for the sins of the world. God began the work of redemption, finished it and has been extending it to us ever since.

The Gospel is the first thing we as followers of Jesus should point to when we think of God’s goodness. The fact that God Himself, came in the form of a human, in all weakness, leaving His throne of Glory. Fully God and fully human. He lived under the weight of all the burden you and I suffer, from sorrows to temptations YET lived a life with no sin. The Son of God then willingly laid His life down so we could be reconciled to the Father. He rose again 3 days after His death, and won a victory over eternal death and darkness. All to unite us to Himself. So you could have a seat at the His table and be a child of God.

This sounds like the work of a strong hand. Do you agree?

I’ve heard a few beautiful children of God say that they do not have a testimony. That their testimonies lack the epic turning point that other testimonies do. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the Gospel of our Lord is our testimony! Whether we grew up in the church or not does not change the fact that all mankind was destined for wrath. We are sinners in need of a Savior. Our personal conviction and confession of Jesus Christ and Lord and Savior of our lives makes us a part of something much greater than us: The redemption story and the kingdom of heaven. Our adoption and salvation is an undeserved gift of grace, not a right. Rejoice! God has done the impossible to unite all things to Himself.

The coming of the King of kings in the form of a baby was revolutionary! God allowing Himself to be tormented by the enemy is mind boggling! The only Man without sin to ever walk the earth willingly dying a criminal’s death is too lofty for our minds to attain! Then the Prince of peace arose and defeated all that kept us far from God. Salvation was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

It could just be me, but it sounds like this strong hand brought us out of the house of slavery!

Romans 10v9-10 tells us how we can walk into this new covenant that God has made. When we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in out hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. If you would like to give your life to the Lord, pray this prayer:

Lord God, I admit that I am a sinner. I confess with my mouth that You, Jesus Christ, are the LORD and believe in my heart that You died on the cross and rose again on the third day. Please forgive me and clease me of all my sin. Come into my life, my heart and make me Your new creation. Please save me God. In Jesus name I Pray. Amen.

If that was your first time confessing and believing with all your heart that Jesus is Lord and Savior, the heavens are rejoicing! Welcome to the family of faith.

My personal testimony:

God’s faithfulness is a major theme in my life as I write this blog. Seeing God’s goodness bring me to places I only dreamed of and relying on His mercy to carry me through. My heart is just full of so much gratitude for the blessings of God on me.

To give context, I recently moved across the country to pursue a university education. This comes after much prayer and preparation, and it’s safe to say that I am astounded that I have made it this far. From the application, to the field of study and to the accommodation, I believe God has led me to the place I am at today.

I am relying on the Lord for providence toward tuition for my studies. I knew there was no way I would be able to see myself through this aspect of the journey from the beginning. There is so much room for worry and doubt and in my weakness, I have fallen into those sins many times for long periods. Yet God tells us to be still and know [remember] that He is God. He will never cease to be God, to be good or to be faithful, no matter the circumstances or how they turn out. I am learning to be content, hopeful, to hold on to faith and to wait on the Lord.

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out this week’s blog. I am unsure about my ability to post as regularly as I would want to, but I desire to be continously open to the Holy Spirit’s leading and hope to be share again soon! Untill then, I pray you will be blessed and remember to live a life that is worthy of the calling to which we have been called in Jesus Christ our King. I love you all.
